FAQ’s
What is Eternia?
Eternia is engineered quartz that is mainly comprised of natural quartz – one of the hardest minerals on Earth. The quartz is crushed and combined with high tech polymers and resins to form an extremely durable countertop surface for kitchens, baths, bars and more.
Where do I buy Eternia?
Eternia is available from certified dealers in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Find a dealer to help you get started with your project.
I’d like to see these surfaces in person. How can I do that?
You can do one of two things: You can order 4×4 samples at our sample store or you can find a dealer near you to look at larger samples in their showroom.
Why is the color that I’m interested in not available in the sample store?
Most likely, we just don’t have samples ready in that color, especially if it’s a newer stone. Find a dealer near you to look at the sample in their showroom.
How does Eternia compare to natural stone?
Granite:
Granite is a natural product that is formed over millions of years in the earth’s surface and tends to have more variation in all areas, including color and pattern. On the other hand, because Eternia is an engineered stone, it is more consistent in color, pattern, texture and finish. Additionally, unlike granite, Eternia never needs to be sealed and requires only minimal care.
Marble and Dolomite:
Marble and dolomite are softer stones which are easy to scratch, chip and stain. And because of their mineral composition, these stones are prone to acid etching from foods with high acidity, like lemons and tomatoes. Therefore, marble and dolomite require more care and upkeep. Eternia is essentially maintenance free, and now has multiple options to mimic the marble look.
Quartzite:
Quartzite—not to be confused with engineered quartz—is a natural stone that is made of pure quartz sandstone. It tends to be mostly neutral in color. Quartzite is more rare than granite. It also requires a periodic sealer and can have brittle areas that may be more fragile.
How should I care for my Eternia on a daily basis?
All it takes is a little mild dish soap and water to keep Eternia sparkling like new. However, it is always a good idea to wipe up spills promptly.
What should I use to take care of a stubborn stain?
The product we recommend is Bar Keepers Friend. This can be found at a wide variety of retailers. We do not recommend it for daily use, but if there is a spot that just won’t budge, it’s a trustworthy product to have on hand.
Does Eternia require periodic sealing?
No, because Eternia is so nonporous, it never requires sealing. With proper maintenance, it will uphold its lustrous quality for the life of the countertops.
Is Eternia heat resistant?
With both Eternia and natural stone, we always recommend using things like hot pads and trivets when placing high-temperature items on countertops. The thermal shock from a sudden change in temperature can damage the stone. A cup of coffee or bowl of soup is no problem, but when using pans in the oven or on the stove, a hot pad provides both protection and peace of mind. Avoid placing heat-generating appliances such as coffee makers and toasters directly over seams.
Is Eternia stain resistant?
Yes, even the lighter varieties of Eternia are incredibly stain resistant due to the nonporous nature of the material.
Is Eternia chip resistant?
Quartz is engineered to be an extremely consistent material, it does not have weak points that natural stone can have that are caused by the uncontrollable conditions during the stone’s formation. Because of this, Eternia is more chip resistant than natural stone. Eternia is solid and sturdy throughout which makes it stand up to the normal wear and tear of daily life.
Can I use Eternia outdoors?
Due to lower UV resistance, Eternia is not recommended for outdoor use in unprotected areas.
